Rare collection of1930s memorabilia

A TALK and display, held at Bognor Regis Stamp Club on May 22 '“ comprised very rare material in the form of letters, pictures and autograghs from sports personalities as early as the 1930s. This included cricketers, footballers and famous aviators.

The speaker even had bagdes and insignia from the Royal Flying Corp and the original numbers that some compeditors wore in the 1930 Olympics.

This display will take some beating and will stay with members for some time.

The collection was the work of Mr Brian Hawkins who himself was a sportsman of some standing. How he ever managed to collect all the material is quite beyond me.

The collection included letters from airships, balloons and route finding flights of the early days of airmail.
