Record-breaking year for charitable Rustington store

CUSTOMERS have helped staff at a Rustington store to set a new record for their year-long fund-raising jamboree.

The Original Factory Shop, in Churchill Parade, raised an impressive £1,873.61 for St Barnabas House hospice, Worthing, through its ‘Make a Difference in Your Community’ charity campaign.

Staff organised a range of fund-raising activities, including fancy dress, community raffles and sponsored events.

Manager Emma Hammond said: “The staff have all worked hard to raise this money for St Barnabas House, and as it’s such a deserving cause, everyone in the area has been right behind us. We’re really grateful for all our customers’ support. Let’s hope these efforts will help to make a difference to those who need it in the community.”

Following an appeal to the community to nominate local causes, the store chose St Barnabas as charity partner in January, 2013.

Since its launch four years ago, The Original Factory Shop’s campaign has generated more than £500,000 for local good causes across the UK. This year the chain is partnering with a national charity. Customers can vote for their preferred charity on the Original Factory Shop’s Facebook page until next Thursday.
