More than 100 local dancers will compete in Hove this Sunday (March 26) for a place in a national dance festival.
On Mother's Day, regional dance groups will compete at The Old Market, with winners joining the competition at the National U.Dance festival in Birmingham this July.
Rose Kigwana, producer at South East Dance, said: “We are thrilled to be presenting the U.Dance regional platform this year. The event will bring together some of the best local and regional youth talent.”
As well as performances from regional dance groups, the showcase will feature three short films made by young people, based around dance and broadcast online as part of Channel 4 and Arts Council England Random Acts Initiative.
Choreographers Lisa Gillam and Kate Szkolar, from Penny & Jules Dance said: “We were really proud of last year's event, and this year is set to be even more exciting. We’re counting down the days.”
Acts include Wild – a performance exploring the animalism of human nature by Brighton-based dance troupe Penny and Jules Youth.
The event is organised by a partnership between South East Dance, Penny and Jules Dance, Brighton and Hove High School and One Dance UK.
