Road closure after '˜dangerous structure' falls onto car in Brighton

Scaffolding fell from a building, landing on a car, and unconfirmed reports from a witness said it was a near miss for a family who were walking along Cannon Place when the structure fell this afternoon (December 23).

A road closure is now in place while police and fire crews clear the scene, causing gridlock for Christmas shoppers using the Churchill Square car park.

Sussex Police said: “Police are currently helping with a road closure in Cannon Place, Brighton after some scaffolding fell onto a car.

“There are no reported injuries. The road is closed for recovery work of debris.”

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said a crew from Preston Circus attended Cannon Place to a ‘dangerous structure’.
