Stoolball : The Ladies played at home to Icklesham last Tuesday[3rd] and batting first an opening partnership of 48 between Sarah Clark[68 not out] and Sarah Farthers[21] gave us a foundation to score well but when Sophie Turner was run out for 1 Abigail Fifield[20 not out] joined Sarah Clark to put on 71 and take us to 125-2 from our alloted 10 overs. Icklesham lost their first wicket on 21 when Sarah Clark held onto a catch from Abigail’s bowling and just 3 runs later Abigail took her second wicket with the visitors on 25-2 but and partnership of 82 between Raisa [43] and Heidi[44 not out] saw the visitors win by 3 runs in an exciting and humurous match. On Thursday[5th] the Mixed played at Pett with the hosts batting first an opening partnership of 45 between Nathan[24] and Tina[26] was broken when JJ Boast [1-5] had Nathan caught by Shawn Green. Tina went next caught by Graham Clark from Keith Apps’[2-12] bowling and then Keith caught Janet[11] from Graham’[1-8] over to leave the hosts on 88-3. Di Kitson [1-9] took a catch off her own bowling and then Keith took a catch from his bowling to claim his second wicket as Pett finished their 12 overs on 126-5. Our reply was suicidal as JJ was out first ball and Keith[14] went in the first over. The second over saw Graham[2] lose his wicket and after the third over we lost Sophie[4] and Mel [0] as we struggled at 33-5. Shawn[2] went in the next over and then Kayley Sherwood [19] was joined by Abigail[28 not out] to put on 38 before Kayley was run out. Sarah Clark [9] and Di [7 not out] finished our innings on 109-9 to lose by 17 runs. Last Sunday the Ladies played at Hooe Tournament and with a very inexperienced side we failed to win a game although we did get close twice however Melinda Mackay scored 85 runs in the four games played. On Sunday[15th] the Mixed are at Brightling Tournament which is at Netherfield 10.30a.m. and then on Thursday[19th] the Mixed are at home to Icklesham 7p.m.
