Robertsbridge child carers celebrate '˜outstanding' Ofsted report

Robertsbridge Children’s Service provide year-round care for children from birth to five-years-old in a purpose-built ‘village’ near Salehurst Primary School.
It was given an ‘outstanding’ in every Oftsed category after the inspection on January 8, with only one point for improvement – ‘to strengthen n the already excellent teaching’.

Hide AdTrustees chairman Sue Prochak thanked everyone who helped them achieve the award and said it was only possible through their hard work.
“At every inspection we have had at Robertsbridge Children’s Services, we have been judged as ‘outstanding’,” she said.
“Every time the criteria change and we knew this time it would be a challenge to keep the standards we all aim for.
“This accolade from Ofsted is a result of the hard work, commitment and care given to each individual child by all those involved: all our wonderful staff, our trustees and particularly our manager, Tracey Maskell.

Hide Ad“We are also extremely proud and appreciative of our very supportive families.”
Ofsted inspector Kelly Hawkins gave the service and outstanding in all four categories: effectiveness of the leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare; and outcomes for children.
Ms Hawkins said the staff use a range of highly effective ways to maintain excellent levels of communication with parents. For example, they invite parents to share their views and suggestions.
The quality of learning opportunities is exemplary, all children have an outstanding range of opportunities and are all extremely engaged in learning and make excellent progress, according to the inspector.

Hide AdMs Hawkins also said the children receive ‘excellent’ support for the move to primary school and staff find inspirational ways of improving the children’s speech and communication skills.
“The management team demonstrates an exceptionally high level of dedication to evaluating and reviewing practice,” she wrote in her report.
“They routinely update their professional development and that of the staff, for example, with training.
“This helps to provide high quality care and learning opportunities for children.”

Hide AdRobertsbridge Children’s Service opened in July, 2007, and has received many accolades and awards.
There are safe and secure outside play areas, which include a covered soft play section for nursery and pre-school children.
There is also additional access to the primary school playgrounds and fields.
