The RHS is organising a trip to Sissinghurst on Tuesday June 14.

CARE FOR THE CARERS: This group have been a great help to me over the past year. They meet at Ringmer Village Hall from 10am to noon, so if you are feeling alone and in need of support in your caring role, please come along and join us. It is the first Tuesday of every month. We all think a lot of Kat Mathews who is a gem of a support worker and runs the group. These groups and the lovely people who run them are going to be more and more needed as the older population increases.

CYCLE PATH: Many people have asked me to mention the amount of cyclists who are not using the special cycle paths that have been built at great expense. A lot of hours of campaigning and negotiation have gone into getting them, at the request of many people who cycle, so why aren’t they using them? It’s lovely to see the families that use them at weekends, especially in the Kingston area, so some appreciate them. I wonder what would happen if cars attempted to use them? Irate cyclists I suspect. I remember many years ago driving back from London in a snow storm and wondering why I had a relatively easy drive, I had driven on the cycle path that at one time went alongside the A23 (I don’t think it was called that then, just the London to Brighton road). Another problem with cyclists that has also been mentioned several times to me, is the fact that cyclists are riding down Friars Walk, a one way system. It’s a bit off putting for drivers, especially those new to the area, to have a cyclist driving at you from the wrong direction on a one way system.

QUIZ: The quiz in our pub on March 3 was great. We all had a very happy time and thoroughly enjoyed all the food provided. Our team came second, as we let ourselves down badly on the last two sheets, after romping ahead on the others. Many thanks to the organisers for making it such a great evening. We must have made a good amount for the local hospice.
