School marks its academy status
Pupils at ARK Blacklands Primary Academy celebrated their first day back at school and their first day as part of the ARK network of academies.
Children marked the occasion by releasing 525 balloons in the school colours. Each balloon represented a child at the school.
There are three other ARK schools in Hastings, ARK Little Ridge Primary Academy which also opened this year, Helenswood Academy and ARK William Parker Academy.
