WE NEED YOUR UNWANTED ITEMS: The Friends of Sedlescombe Church annual jumble sale takes place in just a weeks' time on Saturday October 22 in the Sedlescombe village hall. Please think to collect up your unwanted bric a brac, clothes, toys, shoes, books etc. in fact anything that you think could be sold to benefit the charity on this date. We would be pleased to take it from you or just deliver it to the hall on the day from 11am, it is as easy as that. If it is not possible for you to bring or store then please contact Pauline on 870412 or 870344 to arrange a collection prior to the date.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE 2017: The Sedlescombe Societies Association held their annual general meeting at the Queens Head last Monday. Nicola Evans was elected as chair for next years event along with Jan Heap as treasurer with Debra Veith, and myself to help on the organisation. Are you interested in being involved in the day next year? A secretary is needed and more interested people in ensuring that Sedlescombe has a family day to remember in 2017. SEDLESCOMBE STORES: Have you noticed the poster at the village shop? They are looking for volunteers to help out there. Speak to Nicholas or Joanna if you are interested in donating some time. Please try and support our local shop and make your life a little easier, it is so convenient and at the same time you will be supporting your local community.

SEDLESCOMBE PLAYERS: Did you miss our recent excellent production of ‘Tom Jones’? A deliciously naughty 18th Century romp. Did you hear what a delight it was? Well, the players will be on tour at the Stables Theatre in Hastings from Wednesday October 19 to Saturday October 22 at 7.30pm so you have another chance to see and enjoy. Tickets can be obtained by contacting the box office on 01424 423221 or online www.stablestheatre.co.uk Thoroughly recommended as a delightful evening, the 70’s film starring Albert Finney made scandalous viewing however the stage production is a slightly more delicate affair, and great fun.

CHORAL CONCERT: There is something very special about a large choir, accompanied by a fine orchestra, singing some of the greatest music ever written and the 100 voices of Cranbrook Choral Society will be performing Haydn’s magnificent The Seasons at St. Dunstan’s Church Cranbrook for their autumn concert on the November 19. It’s great that you don’t have to go to London to hear live performances of this quality and I know that there’ll be a large party from Sedlescombe in the audience.

ST MICHAELS HOSPICE OPEN GARDENS 2016: This Saturday October 15 is the last open garden of the season at Peasmarsh Place, Church Lane, Peasmarsh TN32 6XE. This is a five acre arboretum bursting with colour at this time of the year and features many rare trees. The garden will be open to visit from 11.00am to 3pm with refreshments available throughout the day and free parking. The admission price is £4 with all proceeds to St Michaels Hospice.
