Both studios will be open Saturday and Sunday June 7 and 8 from 10am to 4pm. Sedlescombe Playgroup were recently visited by Tomboogie, a fun and exciting exercise class from Hastings, organised by one of the mum’s at the Playgroup, Hannah Morris. Parents and children boogied for an hour to lots of familiar and favourite tunes, all having a great time and getting a bit fitter at the same time. Tomboogie donated his time for free and some much needed funds were raised for the children. The photo shows the

As part of Sedlescombe and District gardening society 70th anniversary celebrations, they are holding a Gardener’s Question Time on Friday June 20. The celebrity panel will include Helen Yemm, gardening agony aunt for the Daily Telegraph; Edward Flint, head gardener at Tidebrook Manor, Wadhurst; and Barry Newman, Chairman of the National Vegetable Society. The event will take place at Sedlescombe Village Hall from 7.00 p.m. for a 7.30 start. Tickets, which include refreshments, are priced at £5.00 for SDGS members and £7.50 for non-members and are available from the secretary, Sue Parsons on 01580 831996 or by email at [email protected]. Advanced booking would be appreciated in order to establish final numbers. It promises to be a most educational and entertaining evening.

Congratulations to Chris Lynch who won a first prize in the Floral arrangement section at the Southern Counties Show at Ardingly last weekend. Well done, it is so nice to be able to say that to someone local

Next Saturday June 21 the parish church will hold their annual summer fair from 1pm onwards in the church and churchyard. All the usual stalls will be taking part , cakes, tombola , bric a brac,donations for these would be very welcome , the human fruit machine and we hope Sheila and Trevor will be busy with the plant stall. As always there will be scrummy tea and cakes. this is the church’s Patronal Festival weekend and as such the church will be decorated with lovely flower arrangemnts, ready for St John the Baptist day on Sunday, June 22 when the service will be at 10.30amto chich everyone is welcome.

There is no entry charge to the fair and all proceeds raised on the day will help keep our church at the top of the hill running. For donations of items for any of the stalls or offers of help or further details please contact 870808

Sedlescombe school will be holding their strawberry fair, the following week on Saturday June 28 from 12noon till 4pm. There are still spaces available if you or your group would like to take part. St Michaels Hospice Open garden scheme continues this Sunday June 15 with another garden open at 96 Ashford Road , Hastings TN34 2HZ. This will be open from 10.30am to 4pm. Admission is £4. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

This is quickly followed by two gardens open at Hellingly on Tuesday June 17. Broadview, Church Road BN27 4EX and Brook Cottage , Mill Lane BN27 4HD. Full details of all the gardens involved can be found in booklets available now at the village shop for a token donation of 50p.
