This is a must for your diary and a great family day out. They have some great attractions this year including Water Walkers and New LASER STORM. There will be many side stalls, fantastic raffle prizes, games, bric a brac, books and dvd sales. I think it would be best not to eat or drink before going as there will be a Pimms tent, barbeque plus all the delicious strawberry themed cakes and dishes to enjoy not to mention ice cream as well. The grand opening of the Yurt will take place during the afternoon along with two storytelling sessions, maypole dancing, karate demonstration plus much, much more.

Don’t forget Sedlescombe School’s Adult Swimming session continues on every Tuesday evening 7 - 8pm at £3.00 per person, whatever the weather. Please arrive at 7pm, or phone the school 01424 870585 if you are going but will arrive later, so that they know to expect you. The pool is heated, and the water is sparkling.

You are invited to a coffee morning at Sedlescombe Primary school on Tuesday July 3 from 10.00 to 11.15am in the hall, in support of a past pupil, Kimberley Glen, who is going out to Kenya in February 2013, to work with disadvantaged children. She needs to raise the money to get out there and of course her old school is keen to help her as I hope you are. Please go along and enjoy coffee and cakes and help this worthwhile cause. Any donations are welcomed to support Kimberley’s trip.

The village community is also invited to enjoy school assemblies every week on Mondays at 10.15am and

on Fridays at 9.15am. The door is open and you will be most welcome to attend.

Sedlescombe & District Garden Society have an additional Members’ Meeting planned for the evening of Friday July 6 at 7.30.p.m. at Sedlescombe Village Hall. Helen Yemm, the Daily Telegraph Gardening Correspondent, will be giving an illustrated talk entitled “Downsizing without Tears”. This talk is her experiences about moving house and how she endured the hours of renovating her garden into something wonderful. There should also be time for a short question and answer session. For those of you who do not read the Daily Telegraph, Helen, in her own words is “just a passionate muddy-gloves-and-wellies gardener blessed with the gift of the gab” and she writes a weekly column, Thorny Problems, which is an eclectic mix of musings and agony-aunt-style garden advice.

As well as the talk itself they are planning to have a table with plants for sale and also a raffle with some really nice prizes including a Lunch for Two at the Brickwall Hotel and a Wine Tasting Tour at the Carr Taylor Vineyard. The ticket price which includes refreshments is £2.50 for Members of the Society and £5.00 for Non-Members. All are welcome. Why not join the Garden Society and benefit from the discount prices.

The Open Garden for St Michael’s hospice this Tuesday June 26 is not one but several in Bexhill on Sea, refreshments are being served at Golf Lodge, 199 Cooden Sea Road from 10.30am to 4pm so that is probably a good place to start .. Programmes with full details are on sale at Sedlescombe Stores.
