Shoreham Coastguard called to person in water in Brighton
The Shoreham Coastguard team was called to a person in the water near Brighton pier this afternoon.
However the team was stood down on route after the person was reported to be safely ashore, according to a Coastguard tweet.
The person was taken into the care of police.
The Brighton Lifeboat team were also tasked to the scene but the volunteers stood down as the lifeboat entered the water, a spokesman said.
