Skatepark is one step closer

UCKFIELD skatepark is one step closer to completion thanks to a grant.

The Uckfield Skate Park Project has received 5,000 from the Safer Wealden Partnership (SWP) towards construction costs for the 'state-of-the-art' skatepark.

A spokesman for the SWP said: 'The forum concentrates on dealing with anti-social behaviour, criminal damage, common assault, and reducing the fear of crime within our area.

'Good communication within our community is a major factor in its success, and supporting ventures such as encouraging healthy, youthful activities, is seen to be a positive move ahead.'

The group behind the proposed skatepark, the Uckfield Skate Park Committee (USPC), has been working on the fundraising and design alongside a group of youngsters.

It is hoped the skate park will be completed this year.
