Southwick distraction burglary '“ cash stolen

AN 80-year-old woman had cash stolen from her handbag after two men conned their way into her home in Downlands Avenue, Southwick, last Thursday.

One man initially called at the house to ask if he could borrow a notepad and pen to leave a note for a neighbour.

He went away, but then returned, saying he had come to repair her window.

While she was distracted, another man searched her lounge and stole money from her purse.

The first burglar is described as white, aged 35, 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build, with short blond hair, and wearing a yellow and blue striped jumper and blue jeans.

The second suspect was white, 5ft 6in tall, of skinny build, with short, dark brown hair and wearing a white T-shirt.
