Southwick intruder foiled

AN intruder tried to con his way into two flats at The Green, Southwick, on Sunday.

The man got in through an unlocked communal door, then went into one of the flats, telling the elderly woman occupant he had come to do the plumbing. She told him to leave.

He then tried to get into the flat next door, repeating the conversation to the occupant there, who said they were not expecting a plumber. He ran off.

He was described as Asian or of mixed race appearance, 5ft 8in tall, thin and wearing a light-grey T-shirt, with piping round the edge of the sleeves, and dark, three-quarter-length trousers.
