STAPLECROSS VILLAGE BONFIRE: Just a quick reminder that the road between Staplecross and Cripps Corner (B2165) will be closed between approximately 6pm and 10pm.on Saturday October 25th. This, in case you are unaware, is because the Annual Torchlight Procession and Bonfire Extravaganza, put on by the Ewhurst & Staplecross Bonfire Society, will once more be wending it’s merry way down this road, (from Staplecross village to Cripps Corner hamlet) and back to the bonfire site to the delight and enjoyment of all the hundreds and hundreds of people who turn out every year to watch and support this fantastic event. Come along and see for yourself what a wonderful evenings entertainment, provided by this dedicated and hardworking little charitable society, is all about. Entrance to the actual Bonfire Field site is £1:00 which will go towards the Club’s charitable donation awards at the end of the year, so please come along and show your support.

HALF TERM ACTIVITY: If you should be looking for some half-term activity, with a difference, in which to entertain the kiddies,~ then why not consider this.? You’ll be able to - ( and I quote ) - “Tiptoe over squeaky floorboards and follow the trail to discover hidden graves at the 1066 Battle of Hastings attraction. You will also get your hands dirty creating ghastly ( and ghouly, no doubt ) decorations in the craft area, and even be scared silly by the gruesome tales from a ghost hunter.” - ( unquote.) There are even prizes for the spookiest Halloween costume.- How good is that ? - This unusual Autumnal event is running from Saturday October 25th until Sunday November 2nd at 1066 Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefield. Between 10.0am and 4.0pm. and tickets are £5:80. I wonder what tales you’ll be telling when you return to school. Just call 0870~111~1183 for all further information and to book your tickets - if you dare !!!.

ROTHER RAMBLERS: More of those also not frightened of the dark are the intrepid travellors belonging to the Rother Ramblers. There are two more walks arranged for our enjoyment this week and the first is on Wednesday October 29th and will be a 9 mile circular stroll around Peasmarsh. Those interested in joining this walk are to meet with the others, at 10.0am at Jempson’s car park (SatNavTN316YJ) in Peasmarsh. As usual a picnic lunch is suggested and of course, your doggy pals can accompany you on this walk. I’m also informed, it’s also pub do-able if required before the 2nd half of walk. Sue is the lady ‘Walk Leader’ in charge of todays expedition and you can contact her on 01424~441018 for all further information. The second walk up for consideration is a slightly shorter walk of 6 miles and consists of a very pleasant circular meander around Hooe. This walk is planned to take place on Sunday November 2nd and if you’d like to try this one, please meet at the Red Lion Inn, (SatNavTN339EU) at Hooe at 10.0am. Please be considerate when parking on the roadside, close to the pub. Dogs of course, will be permitted to stroll with you and a short refreshment stop is also planned. Jane will be the lady ‘Walk Leader’ on this occasion so for more details please contact her on 01424~733300.
