Sussex school boy awarded ‘runner up’ in BBC Young Chorister

Luca Brugnoli who attends Brambletye School in Sussex successfully gained the prestigious runner up award in this years BBC Young Chorister.

Three boys and three girls aged between 12 and 16 years were chosen to enter the final round. Luca at only 12 years wowed the judges with his rendition of the Christmas song Midwinter by Bob Chilcott.

Judge Howard Goodall said that Luca “had beautiful tone, flawless expression, good voice management, intonation and musicality.”

Judge Katharine Jenkins went a step further adding that Luca had ‘a God given special voice’ .

Luca and the overall winner Naomi both received trophies and will record several songs with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra next week which will be released on radio throughout 2023.

Luca would like to congratulate all the finalists who participated in the event and also thank his mentor Robert Lewis and all those that are supporting his love of music.
