Taste the thrills of kite surfing

LITTLEHAMPTON'S reputation as one of the south coast's prime kite surfing locations has been cemented with the announcement that a kite surfing school is to open on the seafront.

Kite surfing instructor Jason Higgins is opening the school this summer and to give people a taste of what's on offer, a free kite surfing taster day has been organised for Saturday, May 12.

Jason, who is working in partnership with Airhead Board Sports Company, of Rustington, to provide the school, said: "I know a lot of people want to have a go, and I hope it will be a real eye-opener for locals about what we're trying to do here.

"Our main aim is to bring kiting to the public and try to make them realise that just because it's an extreme sport it doesn't mean that only the young, fit and mad are the only ones who can do it '“ anyone can."

The taster day takes place between 10am and 6pm on the beach opposite Littlehampton Swimming Centre.

*Round six of the British Kite Surfing Association 2007 Freestyle Championships comes to Littlehampton on September 14-16.
