Teenager disturbed robber in Peasmarsh home

Police were called to a house in Main Street shortly before 9.30am this morning (Friday, January 29).

A 14-year-old boy had heard a window smash and phoned his father, who subsequently called police.

The boy stayed in his bedroom, but shortly afterwards the intruder entered the room and told the boy to stay put.

It is believed the intruder gained entry to the house via a rear window and stole items of jewellery.

The robber is described as a white man aged about 30, of medium build, and was wearing a black hoody with the hood up, partially covering his face, and white plastic gloves.

He had brown stubble and carried a brown holdall bag.

Shortly before the incident, neighbours saw a dark 4x4 driving nearby, which police believe may be linked to the incident.

Detective Sergeant Paul Graham of Sussex Police said: “This was a distressing incident for the boy involved, who was left shaken but unhurt.

“He was able to give us a description of the man we are seeking.

“It is possible that he is linked to the 4x4 seen in the village, and it is important that anyone with information comes forward.

“We are at the early stages of our investigation and forensics investigators are at the scene.”
