Finn said: “It was a fantastic experience and I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity.

“Not only was I able to see what the people supporting the MPs do but I also got to meet and shadow Mr Herbert in meetings aimed at solving important issues within the constituency.”

He joined Mr Herbert in his office at Westminster for three days’ work experience. He spent time with the MP and his Westminster team, and was given the opportunity to see the inside workings of Parliament.

Finn was given a full tour of the Houses of Parliament and was able to watch a session of the defence select committee.

He also shadowed Mr Herbert in a meeting with the new housing and planning minister about neighbourhood planning, a key local issue with which the MP is engaged.

Mr Herbert said: “I am always delighted to offer work experience for enthusiastic young constituents and it was a pleasure to spend time with Finn and support his interest in politics.

“I hope his three days at Westminster have inspired him further, and I wish him well in his chosen career.”
