FOOTNOTES: Immediately I saw the layer of snow that had fallen this week I tugged on the wellies, opened the back door for Jack and waited for him to do his usual antics whenever snow falls. This consists of first sniffing it, then rolling in it and then trying to push a furrow with it. My Golden Retrievers were just the same. Rupert would throw himself into it with gusto, rolling on his back, until his coat was matted with ice and snow. Then, having had enough he would come into the kitchen and shake himself so that the snow flew everywhere. However, as a sign of his advanced age, Jack, with great dignity, inspected it all and then did a tour of the garden to make sure all was well. Thankfully, it was gone by the afternoon, especially as I then had to go London. I was nominated Best Actor in a recent production there, and the awards take place in the centre of London. Travelling backwards and forwards to the City is now very tiring for me, even though I still love the old place, and I was glad to be back home in the evening, to a dry, snow -free East Sussex, and a warm welcome from Jack. Enjoy your weekend.
