Top grades forRye students asresults improve

The College has seen an increase on 2013 A*-C percentage pass rates in eleven different subject areas overall.

The college is claiming students have a firm foundation for the future and is proud of the fact that over 91% of all students have left this year with a GCSE in both English and maths.

Head Girl Bleu Simpson achieved 11 top grades including three A/A* grades Head Boy Toby Cooke achieved 12 top grades including 9 at A/A*. Deputy Head Boy James Foster and Deputy Head Girl Molly Asbury also celebrated a raft of top grades including several at A/A*.

Other students celebrating top grades this year in at least ten subjects are: Ollie Willson, Jamyma Hanson, John Kiff, Harry Lye, Toby Menzes-Sacher, Alana Penfold, Acacia Reeves, Jake Cogswell, Lilly Goodwin, Anshela Tharmaseelan, Simon Thompson, Maria Ward, Elliot Hallworth, Archie Benton.

Nicola Midgley, Principal of Rye College said: “We are proud of the achievements of all of the young people who took exams this year.

“Students, staff and governors have worked hard to achieve these results and we are grateful too for the excellent support we receive from parents.

“We are delighted that all of our young people are leaving us to take up a place in further education, employment or training”.

The results continue an improving trend for the college, which continues to attract students from across the region and from Kent,

There are exciting times ahead for Rye College, which now comes under the umbrella of the Rye Academy.

The adjacent Studio School is enjoying a growing reputation and there are plans in the pipeline for a second Studio School on the campus which will specialise in sports and fitness as well as visitor economy.

Ann Cockerham, who has now become Executive Principal of the Academy, said: “We are hoping to open the new school in 2016 and Rye Primary will be joining us in 2016.

“The local authority has asked us to support some of the primary schools in the Rye area.

“Last year we worked with Beckley and Peasmarsh and from September we will be working with Peasmarsh and Playden.

“These are not schools that will join our Trust as they are Church of England schools, but we are working with them to provide leadership support.”
