Child in hospital after Horsham rubbish vehicle collision

A child on a pushbike has been injured following a collision involving a rubbish vehicle this morning (Tuesday June 19).

Emergency services were called to North Parade in Horsham at 8.35am.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “The boy has been taken to East Surrey Hospital suffering from what are believed to be serious but not life threatening injuries.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting 291 of 19/6.”

A spokesperson for Horsham District Council said: “We can confirm that there was an incident at around 8.35 am this morning in North Parade in Horsham with one of Horsham District Council’s refuse collection vehicles.

“The full details are not yet known, although it is known that a young boy has suffered an injury to his foot and/or lower leg and was taken to hospital.

“No one else was injured and as a precautionary measure the vehicle and its driver are now off the road at our depot.

“We have launched an investigation into the incident and we are assisting the Police with their inquiries.
