Udimore

BREDE FLOWER FESTIVAL: Starting tomorrow (Saturday) and continuing til Monday (Bank Holiday) in and around Brede Church, this big annual event will be well worth a visit sometime in the course of the weekend. The 35th in the series, its theme this year is ”Once Upon A Time: A celebration of children’s literature”. Besides the numerous imaginative floral displays in the church, there will also be many stalls offering cakes and savouries, books and CDs/DVDs, preserves of all sorts, produce from local gardens and orchards, and all sorts of high class bric a brac on the “Grannie’s Attic” stall. As well as making your purchases there, you are also invited to contribute any high quality items of your own: they will be very gratefully accepted by the various stallholders. So will donations of good prizes for the Grand Draw (about which you should please consult Duncan Reid in advance - 01424 882412).

Church Services: This Sunday in Udimore Church, Holy Communion will be at 8am, and, in Brede Church, Family Eucharist will be 9.30am and Evening Praise at 6pm. On Wednesday (August 27) the late Bob Langrish’s life will be commemorated in a memorial service in Beckley Church, starting at 2.30pm (it would be wise to get there well beforehand).

Mobile Library: After the end of September, the current schedule of visits is likely to be very much reduced (calling only at St Mary’s Community Hall, at three-weekly intervals). So do make the most of its visit next Friday (August 29), 10.15am-10.40am at Lower Cross, 10.55am–11.15am at the Hall.
