Between 4 and 9pm today (Friday) and 11am and 5pm tomorrow, the fine 3 acre garden at Fairlight End, opposite Pett village hall, will be open to the public for the National Gardens Scheme.

With many interesting features, this garden is well worth a visit (dogs welcome, on leads). Wine and light refreshments this evening, teas tomorrow afternoon. Plants for sale. Entry £4, children free.

Pam Goddard’s funeral is due to take place at Hastings Crematorium next Wednesday, June 27, at 1.15pm. From Wednesday till the following Sunday, July 1, from 10am till 5pm every day, recent work by the Hayesland Potters and Painters will be on show at the Court Hall, Winchelsea. This will be the sixteenth annual exhibition by this local group of friends, whose work is always well worth seeing.

If you don’t yet have tickets for the 60s/70s Disco in the Hall on Saturday June 30, 7 – 11pm, please note that they can now be booked by ringing 01424 882250 (instead of the numbers detailed in the Parish Magazine). Prices: adult £10, children £5, under 3s free. This will be a night of nostalgia, food, drink and company. 60s/70s outfit optional, but there will be prizes for the best dressed adult and child. Ticket price to include a barbecue (vegetarians catered for on request), a licensed bar also available. It sounds like a good party!

After no less than 45 years of service, Anne Mair has decided to retire as governor and founder-governor of Rye College, having seen the school through its successive transitions from Rye Grammar School to Thomas Peacocke Community College and now to Arts and Enterprise Specialist School.
