UPDATE: Almost 300 still without power after sub-station crash
A BMW estate car driven by a 23-year-old Littlehampton man left the road and demolished part of the wall of the sub-station at 10.44am.
The driver suffered only minor injuries but two high-voltage cables were badly damaged.

However, UK Power Networks said this afternoon the accident did not initially interrupt electricity supplies, although at 12.15pm engineers had to isolate some supplies in the area to make the equipment safe and carry out repairs.
A spokeswoman added: “We are working to restore power supplies to 283 customers in the area as quickly as possible.”
Police have asked anyone who saw what happened to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting serial 441 of 16/11.
