Update: Investigation into ferocious flat fire

Eight fire engines were sent to the address in Rowlands Road at 3.10pm.
Sussex Police closed the road and the public were advised to avoid the area.

Hide AdEyewitnesses reported flames leaping from the roof of the property and clouds of smoke billowing from an upstairs window.
Luckily no one needed to be rescued from the flat.
Firefighters fought the blaze well into the night and crews finally left the scene shortly before 2am this morning (Sunday).
Crews returned to inspect the scene at 7.15am.
