Video: Register to vote in Brighton and Hove

Residents should register to vote by Monday, May 22, if they want to vote in this year's general election.

In Brighton and Hove, the council’s elections team is gearing up for the busy weeks ahead, preparing for the election will take place on Thursday, June 8.

The city has three parliamentary constituencies: Brighton Kemptown, Brighton Pavilion and Hove.

Brighton and Hove City Council is urging residents to register to vote before the deadline, but said if residents are already registered to vote at their current address they do not need to register again.

Different deadlines apply for postal and proxy votes. Postal vote applications must be with the council by 5pm on Tuesday, May 23, and for proxy votes the deadline is Tuesday, May 31.

The election team are also arranging the 127 polling stations across the city, as well as preparing for overnight count which will take place after polls close at 10pm on June 8.
