People living in the area heard more about the scheme from project developers Norvento Wind Energy UK and Fine Energy at Southwick Community Centre on Wednesday.

Norvento director Ivo Arnus said his company regarded it as a flagship development, which would benefit both the port and the surrounding area.

He explained that Norvento would sign a lease with the port to place the wind turbines, if approved, and the rent would be paid in the power they create.

The drop-in event was a pre-planning consultation. The exhibition stands have now been moved to Shoreham Port’s headquarters, Nautilus House, in Albion Street, and will be available for view until Wednesday, November 5.

Mr Arnus said the planning application would then be submitted to Adur District Council, giving residents a further opportunity to comment on the proposals.
