The post office, based in the Co-operative store, in Main Road, will be closing later this month while work is carried out to expand the premises.

A new serving counter will be created, with opening hours extended to 118 hours per week – 69 more than the currently arrangements.

Once completed, the facility will be open Monday to Saturday, from 6am until 11pm, and Sunday, from 7am until 11pm.

Post office area manager Keith Long said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Yapton and we are confident this new modern post office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the post office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The post office will close for refurbishment on Tuesday, March 18 at 5.30pm, with the new-look branch scheduled to open on Saturday, March 29, at 9am.

The nearest alternative post offices for customers to use during the closure are at Maple Parade, Walberton and Barnham Road, Barnham.
