Waldron

FRIENDS MEETING: This evening, Friday, the AGM of the Friends of Waldron Churches will take place at St Bartholomew's Church, Cross in Hand beginning at 7.30pm. The Firs Surgery has agreed to let us use their car park should the area in front of the church be full. It will be a chance for all members to hear of FoWC's progress in the past year, and a preview of what is to come this year. That will be particularly interesting because of the big plans for re-ordering our two church buildings. .

MAD MARCH QUIZ: This year’s fundraising for the Friends of Sussex Hospices includes a repeat of their very successful Mad March Quiz when pubs all over the county run their monthly quizzes and dedicate the profits to FSH. The Star in Waldron raised a goodly sum last year for the cause and will aim to do the same this year. However, the usual last Monday of the month falls on Easter Bank Holiday Monday, so Paul has decided to postpone the Quiz Night to Monday April 4. More details next week.

VILLAGE DIRECTORY: Maura Fanshawe has completed the new Village Directory (official title: Waldron: life in our village) and it is now being delivered to every house by volunteers. Yours should arrive this week and Maura and the team hope you will find it useful. A big round of applause for everyone involved.

SERVICES: This Sunday both morning services will be held at St Bartholomew’s at 8am for Holy Communion and at 10am for Parish Eucharist, followed by coffee and cake. The monthly Evening Prayer will also be at St Bart’s at 4.30pm, led by Christo Corfield.

AND FINALLY: A very warm and sincere thank you to so many of you who have been in touch with cards and telephone calls and offers of help after my recent accident. After some false starts and very uncomfortable weeks, I am now definitely on the mend and hope to start physiotherapy this week to get back full mobility of my smashed shoulder.
