War dead - filling in the blanks

An encouraging response is helping Sandy Sell fill in the blanks in the life histories of Pagham's first world war dead.

Sandy's researches were featured in last week's Observer Magazine.

Responses have so far come in from Southbourne, Barnham, Boxgrove, Chichester and Bognor Regis.

"We have been contacted by the families of nine of the fallen," Sandy said.

She's now hopeful of finding out more about Reginald Dell, Albert Janman, William Russel Keates, Ernest Keates, Frank and Stephen Misselbrook, Frederick Stoner and the Holden family.

"A great nephew of James Patten contacted me on Saturday evening and George Hale, Albert Janman's great nephew, got his neighbour to email."

Sandy is compiling biographical details with a view to marking next year's 90th anniversary of the Armistice.
