A festival held at Henfield Memorial Field celebrated its reopening following a year-long refurbishment.

The event started with a rededication ceremony by the vicar before visitors enjoyed a whole host of games - with Olympian Sally Gunnell giving it the golden seal of approval.

Kevin Wright, event spokesperson said: “We are now delighted that the playing field is once again ready for all to enjoy.”

With everything from football and cricket to a jogging trail and more traditional events like the sack race, the festival had something to suit all ages.

An interview with special guest star and Olympic gold medallist Sally Gunnell inspired the visitors, compered by Paul Samrah.

The field was originally created in memory of residents who died in the second world war.
