Village Tidy: Many thanks to the hardy volunteers who braved the rain to take part in the Village Tidy on Saturday 11th. Around twenty bags of litter were collected, much of it drinks cans and bottles, sweet and crisp packets and cigarette packets – rather a sad statistic. We also thank the residents who regularly pick up litter in their own patches of the village throughout the year.

F3 Women’s Group: meet in the Parish Hall on Thursday October 23 at 7.30pm. Marigold Connolly’s talk ‘Can you see what I’m saying?’ introduces us to the challenges of deafness and explains British Sign Language. This group meets monthly, and is open to women of any age. Westfield Scout Group: presents another of its famous Murder Mystery evenings on Saturday, November 15, with the help of Icklesham Players. The event is for teams of about 6 people, and starts at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall. Tickets (£8) include ploughman’s supper, and should be booked in advance. Please bring your own drinks and glasses to help the little grey cells along. Tickets will be available from Scout Leaders, Archers Butchers, or ring 754080 or 753684.

Parish Hall: Volunteers are needed to join the painting party to smarten up the lower section of the Parish Hall walls during half term. Please contact Terry Howard at the church if you can help.

Westfield Community Hall: 30th Anniversary of the opening of Westfield Community Hall is being celebrated at the end of the month. Senior residents are invited to a Tea Party on Saturday, October 25 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Community Hall. Football Coaching: Pass and Move runs coaching sessions every Saturday at St Leonard’s Academy from 9-10.30am (£3.50) or 9-11.30am (£5) & in Westfield during the week & school holidays. Race Night fundraiser: Westfield FC are hosting a race night at the Parish Hall on Saturday evening November 8th from 7 until 11. Entry is £5 pp inc a free draw (on the night) for a bottle of champagne. There will be a bar & snacks available and funds raised are to support providing football for all ages.

Access to Employment, Training & Volunteering: The Rye Partnership are hosting an event at Battle Memorial Hall on October 30th 9.30 – 12.30. There will be job opportunities, courses available & information on volunteering.

Rye and District Association of the National Trust: Quiz night will be held on Saturday 15th November at 7.00 pm in Beckley Village Hall.The cost will be £8 pp including sausage and mash supper.Tables will be for 8 people.
