Woman dies after A27 crash

A woman has died after a two-vehicle crash on the A27 yesterday (Monday, November 3).

It happened at 2.25pm, on the westbound carriageway at the corner of Yapton Lane, Walberton when a VW Polo and and VW Caddy van collided.

The driver and sole occupant of the VW car, a 20-year-old local woman, died from her injuries at the scene. The driver of the van suffered shock and was taken to St Richards Hospital.

Staff from West Sussex Fire & Rescue, South East Ambulance and the Highways Authority all assisted at the scene and the road was closed for nearly three hours.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Orlop.
