Woman dies after fall from cliff near Brighton Marina

Emergency services were called to Brighton Marina this afternoon (January 2) after a woman reportedly fell from cliffs close to the Asda supermarket.

Sussex Police has since confirmed the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “A woman has died after falling from cliffs near the Asda store at Brighton Marina.

“Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.44pm on Wednesday (January 2), but sadly she was declared dead at 1.54pm.

“Police believe that they know the identity of the woman, but her next-of-kin have not yet been contacted.

“The matter is not being treated as suspicious and has been passed to the coroner’s officer.”

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesperson has confirmed paramedics were called to the scene after reports a person had fallen from the cliffs.
