Woman in her 50s dies on Sussex beach amid sweltering heat wave

A beach in Sussex was evacuated this afternoon (June 25) after a woman in her 50s tragically died.

The air ambulance landed on Worthing beach, next to the pier, just after midday following reports of a woman suffering a ‘medical episode’.

The beach was evacuated and eyewitnesses reported seeing at least seven police cars and three ambulances.

The woman, who has not been identified, was treated at the scene but sadly died.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, hundreds of Sussex Newspapers readers took to social media to share their shock and sadness.

Commenting on the Worthing Herald’s Facebook page, Patricia Marsh said: “This is absolutely heartbreaking thoughts and prayers are with her family at this very sad and difficult time rest in peace to the lady involved x.”

Katie Bramley sent her thoughts, joining Linda Pratt, Lorraine Gadd and dozens of others in sending their thoughts and prayers to the lady, who has not been identified, and her loved ones.

Claire Louise Legge said ‘RIP to the lady. Thoughts are with the family and friends. X’, and Michaela Ives added she was thinking of the lady’s family at this ‘sad and difficult time’.
