A R Brown & Co Solicitors had been a partnership run by solicitor Alan Brown for more than 30 years but it has now become a limited company, with Jenny Walker joining as a new director.

Charity has always been a big focus in her life and she is keen to ensure the firm plans three big fundraising events each year.

Jenny said: “It was decided to change to become a limited company so it will have permanency in the area. In the sense of confidence for the community, we are here to stay.

“I moved over from Brighton because I wanted to join a more community-minded firm.

“I have always been involved with fundraising, wherever I have been. They have always had a community focus here but it has been a bid ad hoc. I wanted to come and reawaken that and include everyone here in a planned programme of charity support. I wanted to lead this and Mr Brown is quite comfortable with that.”

A team of 12 staff, family and friends took part in Night to Remember to set the ball rolling and raised nearly £1,000 for St Barnabas House hospice in Worthing.

Jenny said: “That was really great. We had tremendous support from everybody and we are quite chuffed. It really took the imaginations of our clients, to get that amount of money for a small firm.

“We made certain that we stuck together. It seized the imagination and it was for a good cause. It just enthused everybody. It was really good, it brought everybody together. We will also be doing Make a Will week for St Barnabas in September.”

The next charity event will see conveyancer Janine Cooper-Rowan and office junior Ed Whitting join Jenny for Guild Care’s British Airways i360 abseil on Saturay, September 15.

Jenny said: “We wanted to support something local and Guild Care is a really good, solid Worthing charity.”

Jenny, who lives in Hove, is a member of Rottingdean Bridge Club and the club has agreed to sponsor the team.

She explained: “They are all about giving back to the community. They will hold a bridge evening and donate all the table money to the cause.”

The third event for this year will be the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.
