Lexi’s design features a rocket in outer space, fireworks, a desert island and a starry mountain landscape.

She won a competition to create a new cover for the Family Guide, and the judges said they loved the vibrant colours, imagination displayed, and real sense of freedom that the picture conveyed.

As well as her work featuring on the front cover of 80,000 copies of the Family Guide, Lexi also won £200 worth of tickets for Brighton Fringe 2018 and a Brighton Fringe Gold Friends Membership.

Coming in close to first place were Willow Oakeshot and Mikey Brooker, both six, and Phoebe Chaplin, aged nine, who were awarded the runner up prize of two tickets to a Brighton Fringe children’s show of their choice.

Julian Caddy, managing director of Brighton Fringe, said: “Brighton Fringe is a festival for everyone, so involvement with young people and families is really important to us.

“Lexi’s done a fantastic job creating a wonderful cover for our Family Guide this year, as did all the children that entered the competition.

“It was really hard to choose just one winner in a competition like this so I’m really pleased that we will also be exhibiting all the other entries at the entrance of Brighton MET College on Pelham Street too.

“Our family picnics in the Pavilion Gardens at the start and the end of the Fringe are excellent opportunities to come along and find out more about what’s happening for families at the Fringe – we have heaps of free and low costs activities, performances and workshops for people of all ages and many, many interests so there really is something for everyone.”

The Brighton Fringe’s 2018 Family Guide features family-friendly shows which include cabaret and circus, comedy, dance and physical theatre, events and film, literature and spoken word, music, theatre, visual arts and workshops.

All of the entries received by the Family Guide Cover Competition will be on display in the foyer of MET College for the duration of Brighton Fringe.

Brighton Fringe runs from May 4 to June 3.
