ALISON WINS NEW LADIES' SUMMER CUP

PYECOMBE Golf Club broke with tradition recently when it turned the annual Men's Championship into a weekend festival of golf, introducing a new Ladies' Summer Cup.

The Men's Championship for handicaps up to 16, the Mistlin and Chapman Cups for handicaps of 17 and above were also played for, with the Mistlin and Chapman cups over 18 holes and both other championship over 36 holes, played on Saturday and Sunday in windy and wet weather.

Alison White took the Ladies' Summer Cup, competed for for the first time, with a one shot lead over Annie Eves. Alison scored 78+73=151 and Annie scored 76+76= 152.

Club champion was Michael Stoner for the second year running. He put in a score of 148, five clear of his nearest rival, Drew Bailey.

Handicap winner was Patrick Spencer with a nett 143. Mistlin and Chapman gross and nett winner was Frank Dennes with gross 91 and nett 71.
