Brownlee brothers’ triathlon set to be spectacle at Petworth

The Macmillan Brownlee Tri South promises to be a great day out with the Brownlee brothers competing in the sprint relay.

Spectators will be able to watch up to 800 competitors running and cycling around the 700-acre deer park and swimming in the Capability Brown serpentine lake in the various sprint-relay, sprint and super-sprint events.

Children aged between eight and 14 can sign up on the day to Try a Tri. This includes a 500m turbo trainer challenge, a fun transition race – where they get to wear sunglasses, funny hats or other outfits from a box - and a short timed run loop. On completion they will get a certificate, a ‘tattoo’ and a medal.

Rob Jackson, general manager of Petworth House and Park says: “This is going to be a really exciting event and a lovely treat for Father’s Day. Petworth House will be open as well if spectators want to visit. We are looking forward to seeing everyone here.”

Stalls demonstrating sporting products and information about volunteering will be set up in front of Petworth House.

Garden Catering will be supplying food and drink on the day and there will be ice creams for sale.

Admission for spectators to Petworth Park will be free; normal admission charges apply for the house.

There are 11 waves of competitors, starting between 8.30am and 11.20am. Prizegiving led by the Brownlees is at 2pm.
