Building for the future at Borde Hill Horse Trials

SURREY'S Pippa Funnell and her fellow GB Olympic Team Silver medallist William Fox-Pitt, head a field of almost 600 at the British Eventing Horse Trials at Borde Hill, near Haywards Heath, on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, May 27 and 28.

They include proven internationals, potential stars of the future and grassroots riders.

The setting of the event is spectacular at the Grade II* English Heritage listed Borde Hill garden and parkland setting. Sponsored by JH Builders, the Complete Building Service, and Bill Kear Arenas and Gallops, the event is aid of the charity Spinal Research.

It offers a range of sections with Intro and Pre-Novice on Sunday May 27, and Pre-Novice, Novice, Junior Regional Novice, Intermediate Novice and Intermediate Novice Under 21 on Monday May 28.

The exciting and challenging cross-country phase, which on Sunday starts at 9.30 a.m., and on Monday at 10.00 a.m., builds on competitors' earlier dressage and show jumping performances.

The three cross-country courses make full use of the natural splendour of the venue, its undulating contours and glistening lakes set against the imposing elegance of the 16th century heritage house.
