Former Sussex cricketer named in Australian team of the year

Former Sussex player Lewis Hatchett has been named in the South Australian Cricket Association team of the year for the 2020-21 season.

The Shoreham-born bowler, who plays for East Grinstead in the Sussex Cricket League Premier Division, was the third-leading wicket taker in the SACA PC:West End Men's 1st Grade.

The 31-year-old took 31 wickets in 11 games, including three five-wicket hauls. for Australian club side Southern District.

He had the third-best strike rate out of the top ten, with 32.03, and recorded the third-best bowling figures in the top ten, with 6-50.

Hackett took 72 wickets in 27 first-class matches in a six-year career for Sussex, before he was forced to retire from the professional game in 2016 following medical advice.

The bowler has taken 1,428 wickets in 148 games for East Grinstead, in a career spanning over a decade at the club.
