John Abbott nominated as next President of Sussex Cricket

The Sussex Cricket Board has nominated John Abbott, CBE QPM, to become the next President of Sussex Cricket at the AGM on Tuesday March 28 2017.

Jim May, Sussex Cricket Chairman, said, “John Abbott has strong roots in recreational cricket, having been Captain and Chairman of St Michaels Cricket Club in Lewes. He was a Board Director of Sussex County Cricket Club from 2006 to 2012 and is currently a Trustee of the Sussex Cricket Foundation.

“John had a distinguished career in law enforcement including being Assistant Chief Constable for Sussex and was Director General of NCIS (UK National Criminal Intelligence Service). He is currently Chair of the ICC (International Cricket Council) Independent Oversight Group of the Anti-Corruption Unit.

“John will be a worthy successor to David Bowden who stands down as President at the AGM after two very successful years in the post. His many accomplishments were recognised nationally when David won the ECB NatWest Outstanding Service for Cricket ‘Life Time Achievement’ Award in October 2016.”
