Bexhill Cricket Club will host the Lashings All-Stars at The Polegrove on Saturday September 10.

“It’s all confirmed,” said Bexhill first team captain Johnathan Haffenden. “It’s always nice to have a game after the season and to have something like this will be a massive thing. It will be a lot of hard work, but it will be a good day for the club.”

A host of international stars have played for Lashings over the years in matches against school and club teams to promote the sport.

Maidstone-based Lashings bill themselves as ‘the world’s greatest cricket club’, and the likes of ex-South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs, and West Indies duo Tino Best and Kirk Edwards have already agreed to return in 2016.

Lashings visited The Polegrove back in 2007 to face a 1066 Sporting Club Select XI containing players from across the area. This time, however, the opposition will come solely from Bexhill CC.

Detailed arrangements will be announced in due course, although Bexhill intend to make it a real family occasion. The club hopes to put on a children’s tournament before the main game and get Lashings players to join in with some children’s coaching.
