The latest government announcement paved the way for a full season with sport allowed to return from March 29.

The league had prepared contingency plans in case cricket was not allowed to return, but now it looks like we will have a full season.

League chair Gary Stanley said: "The Sussex Cricket League very much welcomes the news that recreational cricket has a clear path to a full season, and we will continue to work toward that goal, in line with whatever conditions and restrictions are advised by Government via the ECB.

"What is clear is that our Clubs are straining at the leash to get going and we share their enthusiasm. Club and league cricket in Sussex is in great shape and 2021 should be a very exciting season."

Earlier in the week the league announced the draws for the T20 competitions.

The default dates for the T20 competitions are as follows: -

Round 1 and 2 - Sat 1st May

Round 3 (Cup) - Sun 30th May

Round 3 (Trophy and Plate) - Sun 6th June

Quarter Finals - Sun 11th July

Semi-Finals (Trophy and Plate) - Sun 8th August at Preston Nomads CC

Semi-Finals (Cup) - Sun 15th August

The league are still exploring options for a Finals Day in late August or September and will advise when firmed up.

In an update to all clubs, league chair Gary Stanley said: “We are hoping to be able to use the 1st Central County Ground at Hove, but this depends on many different factors.”
