Derby honours even

LOCAL derbies between the Marigolds and the Mulletts are always lively affairs. I should know. I have refereed a few of them.

After only five minutes, Arundel nearly took the lead. Matt Huckett's free kick was knocked on by brother Mike and Jason Wimbleton shot against the bar.

The home side soon retaliated and an inch-perfect cross from Des Guile found Steve Davies' head. Only a brilliant reaction save from Ben O'Connor in the Arundel goal kept the scoreline blank. Then Peter Brackley's free-kick was deflected onto an Arundel goal post by a defender and Gary Young blazed the rebound over.
