He fought his way back into the team during pre-season, having missed the second half of the 2013/14 campaign with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Manager Sami Hyypia has been full praise for Crofts and was delighted to see him extend his current deal. He said the 30-year-old is an important influence on and off the field: 'He has shown he has now recovered from his injury and will be an important part of the squad - and deserves this extension to his contract.

'He is a good professional, with an excellent attitude to training and matches. As an experienced player he is also an important influence on the younger players coming through to the first team.'

Crofts joined the Seagulls for a second time in 2012 from Norwich City having previously left Sussex to sign for the Canaries in 2010.
