Albion enter month of uncertainty with clash against former boss

Albion hope to end long-running October woes when they take on Cardiff City.

]Having ended last month with a 2-2 draw at Bolton Wanderers, Albion will be hoping to end their long-running October woes when they take on Cardiff City.

Chris Hughton's side went in at half-time with a 2-1 lead, after strikes from Dale Stephens and Jamie Murphy at the Macron Stadium.

The game, however, turned with 15 minutes remaining, as Murphy was controversially sent off for a foul on Neil Danns - with Gary Madine rising late on to head home an equaliser for the Trotters.

The result feels like a case of two points lost, with the Seagulls seeing their lead at the top of the division cut to one point.

The positive Albion can take away is they remain one of two sides in the Football League who stay unbeaten after the first two months of the season.

They will have a hard time maintaining that at the start of a month that has been a stumbling block in recent years.

Albion have failed to win a game in October for the past four seasons, with their last victory coming at Peterborough United in 2010.

With confidence high, there's every chance Hughton's men will prevent the winless October run carrying over to 2016. And their first chance to rectify the unfortunate stat comes against former Albion manager Russell Slade.

The ex-Orient boss has overseen a strong start to the season for the Bluebirds, picking up four wins in their last six games. Slade is still held in high regard by Albion supporters for helping to avoid relegation to League Two in 2009.

While form has dipped on the road in the past few weeks, Albion still maintain a 100% record at the Amex. Which has been built on positive attacking performances.
