Brighton star 'happy with a point' against Newcastle in the end

The draw moved Albion four points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with just two games remaining.

The Seagulls struggled to get going in the first half and did not have a shot at goal as they trailed 1-0 after the opening 45 minutes. Albion were much better after the break and equalised through Pascal Gross 15 minutes from time.

Speaking to BT Sport afterwards, Duffy said: Obviously it was a big second half. We weren't happy with the way we played first half. It showed the character in the squad (in the second half) and we're happy with a point in the end but we had some big chances at the end."

Asked about the slow start, Duffy said: "It didn't happen for us in the first half. We didn't get going and that was a little bit of a frustration. We tried too hard maybe.

"We knew the importance of the game and from the first minute of the second half we were at it and probably deserved more than a point in the end."

Albion knew Cardiff had lost at Fulham in the afternoon kick-off but Duffy insisted: "We were always concentrating on ourselves. We did our best not to know the score but so many people tell you.

"We knew it was in our own hands and it still is in our own hands. We've got two games left to hopefully get some more points."
